What does design mean to you?
Design is creative. I hope to advocate ideas and concepts through design, realizing them while making a positive impact on society.
What was your proudest project in 2025?
A detached residential unit on Peng Chau Island. What is most memorable and surprising is that the young homeowner commissioned us to design and plan the unit two years before their planned retirement. The owner placed great trust in me and actively participated in the planning process. We selected a wide range of premium Japanese materials and products, creating an authentic Japanese home living experience.
Most notably, we used the Japanese construction technique “Nijūka” for the first time in Hong Kong. Nijūka is a common Japanese elevated floor system, comparable to the raised platforms often used in Hong Kong. The upper layer can accommodate underfloor heating, timber flooring, or tiles, while the lower layer houses plumbing and electrical systems. This makes it particularly suitable for Hong Kong’s humid environment and significantly improves construction efficiency. The Architectural Institute of Japan also notes that Nijūka enhances comfort when walking and standing. The unit is nearing completion, and I look forward to introducing this project.

Whats your design philosophy?
Observe deeply and pay attention to daily life details. Balance practicality with aesthetics. Substance over showiness.
If you hadnt become an interior designer, what do you think youd be doing?
A chef.
