True design is more than just what meets the eye; its about how it makes you feel the moment you walk through the door.

Angelyn Wong, Senior Designer at Rezt+Relax Interior Design, prioritises emotional resonance above all else. She always strives to balance aesthetic elegance with practical living, creating spaces where a calm, welcoming atmosphere meets a distinct sense of refinement. Her goal? To ensure homeowners feel an instant, deep connection to their sanctuary from the very first step inside.

Could you describe your design philosophy, and what key experiences have shaped it?

My design philosophy centres on creating refined, welcoming homes that are deeply personal to the people living in them. I believe good design should not only look beautiful but also improve daily life through careful attention to spatial flow, lighting, and finer details.

Over the years, working on a wide range of residential projects, from compact apartments to landed homes, has taught me to prioritise both emotional and practical needs. A key experience that shaped this was designing a clients modern luxe home that eventually became my own wedding venue. It beautifully reminded me that homes arent just physical spaces—they are where meaningful memories are made.

Where do you find inspiration outside of the world of interior design?

I draw inspiration from travel, architecture, fashion, and everyday experiences, observing how different environments evoke different emotions. But beyond aesthetics, my greatest inspiration is the homeowners themselves. Understanding their unique lifestyles is the starting point for creating a personal space. Often, the smallest detail—like a favourite artwork or a simple daily habit—can inspire an entire design direction.

What core design principle do you believe will only become more important in the years to come?

I believe thoughtful and intentional living will become increasingly important in the future. Today’s homeowners are looking beyond fleeting trends; they want spaces that support their lifestyle, emotional well-being, and long-term functionality.

Good spatial planning, timeless material choices, and adaptable layouts will continue to matter far more than purely decorative design. I also believe highly personalised homes will become even more valued. People want spaces where every detail feels meaningful and connected to their identity, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

What does the next chapter of your design journey look like?

I look forward to taking on more high-end and landed projects, exploring new ways to create homes that are both luxurious and deeply liveable. I’m particularly interested in refining how lighting, materials, and spatial experiences shape emotions within a space.

Moving forward, I want to grow creatively through collaborations and challenging projects that push me beyond my comfort zone. Ultimately, my goal remains the same: to design homes that are timeless, meaningful, and memorable.
