Could you share your journey into the world of interior design?

My journey began with a passion for organizing and styling environments, where I realized how much thoughtful design can impact people’s mood and productivity. I developed my skills through hands-on experience in space planning, functionality, and architectural interiors.

I draw inspiration from architectural and cultural symbols, using an integrated language of architecture, landscape, and interior design to create an immersive journey. This has helped me appreciate the balance between creativity and practicality, allowing me to work closely with different professionals and be involved in architectural training, which I am very grateful for.

How do you define good design?

To me, good design is a balance between aesthetics and functionality. It’s not just making a space look good, but also ensuring it serves its purpose efficiently and comfortably. In my design experience, it is about understanding beyond the form and function for each user, but the materials and products as well.

When starting a new project, how do you translate a client’s wants into a tangible, cohesive design?

I believe in feeling the space and starting by truly understanding the client—their lifestyle, preferences, and how they intend to use the space. I listen carefully to capture their needs, then translate their ideas into clear concepts and models to ensure alignment. I focus on cohesive design so that all of this works together harmoniously. I always work with functionality first before form; that brings the feeling of building something out of essentially nothing.

What are the main challenges in balancing structural architecture with interior aesthetics?

One must be able to work with the building’s structural limitations, like fixed walls and columns. To balance it all, you must possess the technical and engineering knowledge to alter the interior structure through design input—like shape and form—while maintaining aesthetic appeal. I see my role as an interior architect to bridge the gap between both architecture and interior design.
