Design has always been personal for Warakorn, Co-founder and Design Director of Gratitude Design.
Sketching at construction sites alongside her contractor father during childhood, she watched ideas transform into physical spaces, inspiring her to pursue interior design. Her early experiences designing communal areas and show homes laid the foundation for Gratitude Design. Today, with her expertise spanning entrepreneurship, hospitality, and education, Warakorn believes that true design goes beyond aesthetics—it is about understanding people and crafting deeply meaningful experiences.

Could you tell us about Gratitude Design and your philosophy?
I co-founded Gratitude Design in Thailand in 2015. The name reflects the values at the heart of our practice: gratitude for the clients, collaborators, craftspeople, and opportunities that allow us to grow and create meaningful work together.
Guided by our philosophy of Tailored Luxury Design, we believe that exceptional spaces should go beyond aesthetics to reflect the unique identity, lifestyle, and aspirations of the people who use them. Furthermore, as both designers and hospitality business owners, we understand spaces not only from a creative perspective but also through the lens of operations, customer experience, and long-term business performance. This allows us to create environments that are visually compelling, highly practical, and sustainable over time.

What inspires you when shaping a space, and what types of projects do you find most engaging?
I am most inspired by people—how they live, what they value, and how they want to feel. Inspiration can spark from a personal memory, a brand’s heritage, local culture, natural materials, or even a specific emotion. I enjoy translating these intangible ideas into spatial experiences through planning, light, materiality, and crafted details. What fascinates me most is design’s ability to create an emotional connection; the strongest spaces foster a sense of belonging, comfort, or curiosity that stays with people.
Because of this, I am drawn to projects with a strong story. High-end residential work is deeply meaningful because it requires a profound understanding of a client’s daily rituals to create a personal, timeless home. Equally, I am passionate about hospitality and retail projects because they shape a complete guest experience. Design has the power to influence how people move, interact, and feel, from the first impression to the smallest moment of discovery.

What is the future vision for your studio?
The next chapter for Gratitude Design is about deepening our research-led approach while expanding our impact across high-end residential, hospitality, and lifestyle projects. We are particularly interested in exploring how design can create stronger emotional connections through personalization and storytelling.
As our work gains greater regional and international visibility, I look forward to exchanging ideas across cultures while keeping our studio firmly rooted in Thailand. I believe the future of luxury interiors will become increasingly personal and experience driven. People are no longer looking only for beautiful spaces; they are seeking spaces that reflect who they are and how they want to live. Our goal is to create emotionally resonant environments that remain meaningful long after the first impression and continue to enrich people’s lives every day.
