Karr Yip is the founder of ADO Limited, which houses both ADO Creative and ADO Casa.
The group weaves design and technology together to build connections and meaningful experiences across all its work. ADO started from Yips belief that interiors are fundamentally about human relationships. At ADO, design becomes the medium through which care and connection take physical form.
What does design mean to you?
Design is how I make sense of living. Its not about pretty pictures or trendy looks, its about paying attention to what people actually need and solving those problems in ways that matter emotionally. Since spaces exist for people, my job is to make sure they feel looked after and genuinely live better because of what Ive created.
Whats your design philosophy?
“Design for Love, Build for Relationships” drives everything I do. Design should create better connections, between someone and their home, between people sharing a space, between life as it is and life as it could be. Every project needs its own reason for being, not just borrowed aesthetics or whatevers hot right now.
What drew you into interior design?
Honestly, it wasnt the profession itself but how powerfully spaces can shift your entire mood and behaviour. That fascination stuck with me, and the more environments I experienced, the clearer it became that design could genuinely reshape how people live day to day. That potential felt worth pursuing.
What habits keep your creativity alive?
Im into deconstructivism and existentialist architecture, so mostly I just watch how life unfolds. Inspiration comes from everywhere, how a street corner works, why an old building feels right, the pace of daily life in different places, even the way someone arranges dinner. I also protect chunks of time where work doesnt intrude. Ideas tend to arrive in the quiet gaps, not during the chaos.
