In-between Architects designs spaces for living, working, and gathering.

Through an emphasis on wellbeing, human connection, and natural materials, we create environments that invite shared experiences and quietly endure over time.

What does design mean to you?

Design is a discipline of care. It is about improving everyday life through simplicity, balance, and purpose, rather than making statements for their own sake. A well-designed space should accommodate changes in life, invite calm, and age gracefully.

I see space as a canvas. Our role is not to fill it, but to create a clear framework that allows people, art, and daily life to exist naturally. Design is as much about what we leave out as what we add. Meaning lies in the in-between—between light and shadow, structure and use—and reveals itself quietly over time.

What was your proudest project in 2025?

Rather than a single project, I am most proud of the range of work we completed in 2025. In our office projects, we challenge conventional corporate environments by creating workplaces that feel closer to home, through careful spatial planning, material restraint, and the thoughtful integration of art.

In residential work, we focus on proportion, light, and the quiet rhythms of daily life, designing homes that restore energy and evolve naturally with their inhabitants. Through our After Sunset art installations, we explore space beyond function—using sound, photography, and narrative to reflect on memory, heritage, and everyday rituals. Together, these works express the in-between spaces we continue to explore, where meaning unfolds gradually over time.

What do you do in your free time?

Photography is a constant part of my life. I carry my camera wherever I go; it helps me remember places, atmospheres, and moments that later inform my design thinking. Architect Álvaro Siza once described an architect’s life through three F’s: to finish, to fotografia, and to forget. In many ways, photography is already part of an architect’s DNA.
