NYCxDesign's seventh edition sees the whole of New York being taken over by a bevy of fairs, installations, exhibitions, product launches, talks, and other events dedicated to all things design, from industrial design and architecture to fashion and graphic design.
We've rounded up five events you should be sure to check out if you're in the Big Apple this month.
NYCxDesign Awards
A panel of New York's design authorities judge the winners of this awards event, which is organised by Interior Design magazine and ICFF and recognises the best projects and products in the city. This year's nominees include Yabu Pushelberg and Rockwell Group; winners will be announced on May 20.
Design Pavilion
Comprising installations, performances, talks, and retail, the Design Pavilion at Times Square takes place is free and open to the public, and attracts millions of visitors every year. Of particular note is the Times Square Design Lab, which will feature commercial models of new outdoor furniture pieces and other public space furnishings. May 10-22.
ICFF
Over 900 exhibitors from around the world will showcase their best work at what has been North America's leading luxury global design platform for the past 30 years. May 19-22.
WantedDesign
WantedDesign is a platform that's dedicated to promoting design as well as fostering an international creative community. During NYCxDesign, there will be an array of marquee events including WantedDesign Manhattan, a destination for international design.
Retail events
Watch out for pop-up markets and retail events galore among New York's design stores, including a special pop-up store by online seller WallpaperSTORE* created exclusively for the festival, a curated exhibition with editor-lead tours the gallery of furniture, fashion, art and jewellery store 1stdibs (May 21), and a preview of British lighting brand Tala's new studio.
NYCxDesign takes place from May 10 to 22.
