Every time Morocco is mentioned, what comes to mind is the colourful handcrafted textiles and architecture that comes a bit of mystery and romance.
Such an unrestrained feeling keeps people coming back and makes them want to stay for a while. Mallory, who lives and works in New York as a product designer and interior designer, is also the founder of The Reserve. This speciality store uses many Moroccan objects to transform the home into a home with exotic and contemporary features.
If you also want to emulate such unrestrained decor, studying Mallory's interior design may give you some creative inspiration!
1. BRAIDS AND KNITS
Morocco is a country that produces a large number of handicraft products and attaches great importance to texture. Try to use a variety of coarse woven materials such as woven carpets, embroidered cushions and pillows, tassel decoration and so on. Line them with natural wood or rattan structures to complete the look with a bohemian flair.
2. SOFT AND MUTED TONES
To maintain a comfortable atmosphere at home, Mallory does not use too many vivid colours but instead choosing a combination of quieter alternatives like dusty pink, coral red, mint green, mustard yellow and aqua blue that also work to show a rich and diverse environment
3. REFINE THE DETAILS
There's always a balance to everything, and in this case, as much as you want the space to feel 'free', the details tie everything together so that the decor does not come off looking random. Mallory spent extra effort on picking out specific pieces, such as the modern hanging lamp with gold embellishment, marble countertops with brass faucets and shell cushions, all of which make the Moroccan style more modern and approachable for urban living.
