There are getaways that offer an escape from the bustle of city living, and then there are getaways that restore and ready you for your return to the city.
Sangha Retreat by Octave is of the latter mould, a 189,000 sqm sanctuary designed for rest, relaxation and recovery.
Designed by Tsao & McKown Architects from New York, Sangha – Sanskrit for ‘community’ – is envisioned as a health and wellness hub encompassing residences and facilities. Visitors are pampered head to toe with a host of spa treatments, 10 in total to select from; chef-designed and nutritionist-approved meals; guided meditation sessions, and mindfulness workshops, as well as Ayurveda cleanses, yoga classes, and individually customised ‘healing journeys’.
Sangha Retreat by Octave is the lifestyle brand’s first foray into the retreat space. Built along the banks of Yang Cheng Lake, about 15 minutes from downtown Suzhou, the complex also has a dedicated events centre and a chapel-like pavilion, in addition to the 109 houses, four apartment buildings with a total of 87 units, and two retreats. AT ONE Wellness Retreat features 69 standard rooms and three garden suites, as well as three honeymoon suites, while graduate housing-inspired Fellow Traveler has 46 accommodations and a study lounge.
