A nighttime fixture of the quaint Bridges Street and the singular cause behind a perennial and lively crowd of young creative professionals since its opening in 2011, acclaimed yakitori restaurant Yardbird finally closed up shop in early November for greener pastures further down Sheung Wan’s steep topography, thus saving scores of future diners an arduous uphill trek.
Yardbird had long outgrown its original location, which is why its newest space on Wing Lok Street offers just that, and plenty more of it – its two halves are roughly divided into a casual bar area towards the front of the restaurant, and more formal seating table and booth seating options towards the back.
Yardbird 2.0” marks the fourth collaboration between founders Matt Abergel and Lindsay Jang and interior designer Sean Dix, who ensured elements of aesthetic continuity between the former and current locations in the fit and finish not just of the interior, but in the custom-designed furniture range too.
