Ceilings that exceed expectations, windows on every side and glass partitions in place of walls triumph in making Antonia Da Cruz’s Kennedy Town apartment feel significantly bigger than its 600sqft imprint. The Hong Kong general manager of fitness platform and community GuavaPass was first attracted to the space for a number of reasons: The fact that it is a new build that was completed last year, it’s in a great up-and-coming area with new restaurants and a neighbourhood vibe, it’s by the sea, it has high ceilings, its got awesome facilities, and it offers convenient access to the MTR,” are just a few she recounts.

Originally comprising two bedrooms, Antonia’s first move was to change the layout of the flat to better fit her lifestyle. I had to knock down the wall to the ‘second bedroom’, which was pointless because you couldn’t even have fitted a single mattress in there,” she says. This was then converted into my walk-in wardrobe. Otherwise the layout remains very much the same except that I had to build a lot of storage space.” Much of it for her extensive shoe collection, she admits.
