When Christina Ong founded COMO The Halkin in London in 1991, she revolutionised the world of luxury travel experiences. What started as a single five-star hotel has since expanded into COMO Hotels and Resorts, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The company now owns and manages 13 urban hotels, island resorts, adventure hotels and wellness retreats across the world, from the COMO Metropolitan hotels in London, Bangkok and Miami to its flagship wellness retreat COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali. Each property boasts a commitment to individualised service, holistic well-being and award-winning cuisine.

Ready to Serve
Employees are marking the anniversary with the 25 Hours of Service initiative, where teams and individuals are challenged to complete 25 hours of service within their local communities. This effort is taking place in all COMO destinations, as well as COMO’s offices in Singapore and New York, and will continue until the end of the year. The initiative has so far involved 330 employees and clocked more than a thousand hours of service to communities, ranging from fundraising runs to skill-based volunteering and mentoring.
Eat Well, Live Well
COMO’s sister brand in wellness, COMO Shambhala, has also created a special edition cookbook, a brand new version of The Pleasures of Eating Well. The book is a gastronomic journey of elevated classics from across the world such as crayfish and pomelo salad from Thailand and fragrant pumpkin and tempeh curry from Indonesia. Each copy comes with a beautiful exclusive slipcover, limited to 250 copies – and will be gifted to the first 250 guests who book and stay in one of COMO’s stylish COMO Suites or Villas in its urban hotels or resorts.
Onwards and Upwards
Beyond it’s 25th anniversary, COMO continues to evolve and go beyond guest expectations. Currently in development is COMO Dempsey - an exciting new lifestyle destination in Singapore that cultivates creativity in fashion, food, and design. The property integrates world-renowned retail concept store Dover Street Market; The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar – a relaxed but refined restaurant and bar by acclaimed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the mastermind behind the eponymous, Michelin-starred restaurant in New York; Japanese restaurant Ippoh Tempura Bar; and COMO Cuisine - a new restaurant concept that offers signature cuisines from COMO Hotels and Resorts properties around the world.
Meanwhile, Candlenut – the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant by chef Malcolm Lee – just debuted this month, as did COMO Marketplace – a luxurious food emporium retailing the finest artisanal products to inspire the Asian palette. Looks like COMO is just getting started.
