The new Pagoda flat-pack chair is inspired by the simplicity of café chairs in mid-19th-century Vienna and the café culture of 1920s Shanghai.
A collaboration between Chinese design brand Stellar Works and American design studio BassamFellows, the collection marries efficiency and comfort, reducing the compact design to its very essence – a curved seat, rounded back and four legs – to lend the interiors a nostalgic personality.
The chair is supremely light and compact with a structure consisted of only six pieces, delivering good craftsmanship and efficiency while allowing multiple material configurations. Cantilevered arms and back subtly reference Pagoda gates, giving the chair its personality sans the need for an arm and armless version.
