This unique hotel, situated in a resort in Negros Occidental, is the world’s largest chicken-shaped building. Its playful design, however, carries a deeper sentiment.
In Negros Occidental, Philippines, a design sensation has emerged. Manok ni Cano Gwapo, a hotel at Campuestohan Highland Resort, has proudly secured its place in the Guinness World Records for being the world’s largest building shaped like a chicken.
But this isn’t just for a good chuckle. Ricardo "Cano Gwapo" Tan, the creative force behind the project, describes it as a heartfelt tribute to the gamefowl industry in Negros Occidental—a crucial pillar of the local economy. "Negros Occidental has a gamefowl industry that employs millions of people in the Philippines. If you look at a rooster, it looks calm and commanding, imposing and strong, which reflects the attitude of our people," Tan remarked, as cited by the Guinness World Records.
Constructed to withstand the region’s formidable typhoons and storms, this architectural gem took 456 days to complete. It spans an impressive 12 meters in width and 28 meters in length, featuring 15 rooms with modern amenities and generous beds, alongside a viewing deck that offers breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding landscape. And the best part? You can experience it all for a relatively affordable 4,500 Philippine Pesos (594 HKD) per night.
