With cross-border events, asia-wide student workshops and designer awards, Hong Kong's interior design celebration had one of its strongest showings yet.
While it might not carry the same fame as Dutch Design Week or Design Miami yet, Hong Kong's very own Interior Design Week is beginning to give its European counterparts a run for their money.
The Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) recently held our city's second ever annual Interior Design Week at Tai Kwun, Central from October 14 to 20. Hong Kong Interior Design Week 2022 featured five major events, including the Twin Cities Expo held in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, forums led by international interior design masters, Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards Ceremony, Asia Pacific Student Workshops and other activities. The event was successfully held and was supported by the industry and the public, with more than 400,000 people participating online and offline.
One of the most important international awards in the interior design industry, APIDA Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards, was also held during Hong Kong Interior Design Week 2022. Entering its 30th anniversary, APIDA has selected the Grand Award, Judge's Choice as well as Gold and Excellence Awards for 11 categories from nearly 600 international entries this year. The Grand Award goes to LEW & ASSOCIATES with the winning work GABO GALLERY, the headquarters and showroom of GABO Sanitary Ware. The HKIDA Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 is presented to Steve Leung, renowned Hong Kong architect, interior and product designer who has been in the industry for 40 years.
