This 893-square-feet home in Taipei pays homage to French chateaux with its classical features and artistic aura.
Taking inspiration from Château de Chambord, one of the most recognizable châteaux in the world thanks to its very distinctive French Renaissance architecture, in the Loire Valley of France, the abode’s elegant herringbone pattern exudes warmth and sophistication, its craftsmanship combined brightness with geometry and functions.
Done by WID Architecture & Interior Design, the visual right angle at the entryway softens the sharpness and echoes the shape of the shoe cabinet. The purely textured painting connects the public and private areas, while the Japanese-style sliding doors enable natural lighting into the abode.
The visual focus of the guest bedroom is accented by layers of in-out facades, with straights and arcs of vertical and horizontal staggering to create an open and layered facade. As a whole, it extends the aesthetics of the master bedroom and the living room to beckon people the moment they step in.
The subtle mid-century modern atmosphere with restrained off-white tones brings minimalism and lightness to the space. What we’re looking into is how interior design can evoke spatial perception, transforming a contemporary dwelling into a tranquil, poem-like ritual residence.
