Luxury doesn’t have to be plush; it can be totally understated,” shares Jean-Michel Gathy, the renowned designer behind the world’s most exclusive hotels, including Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives. There are many ways to define luxury. Here, it’s all about space and privacy – and there’s nothing more luxurious than that.”
Just over two years old, Cheval Blanc Randheli, a subsidiary of luxury goods behemoth LVMH, offers a special proposition – a home away from home for the most discerning, called the Owner’s Villa. Located on a separate island from the main resort and accessed via a short ride aboard a dhoni, this 23,700sqft vacation home is the first of its kind in the Maldives.
The sleek retreat, situated on a 86,000sqft private island, sits amidst towering palm trees, lush vegetation and pristine shorelines. Each room in the villa opens up to a deck, terrace or spacious balcony.
The villa features plenty of areas in which to unwind as well as entertain; the outdoor dining pavilion is the ideal place to greet a new day.
Sunlight streams into the airy living area, decorated with white B&B Italia pieces; the infinity pool glistens in the afternoon sun. Just a few steps away from the main house is a 3,500sqft guest villa, which features a living area, bedroom, outdoor bathroom all linked by a spacious, wood-clad terrace.
Savour gastronomic creations of the in-house chef in the formal dining room.
The stunning staircase leads to the Master Suite. Classic pieces meet sumptuous materials, which soften Jean-Michel Gathy’s striking, linear design.
