Here, the wife of the house loves gardening while her husband enjoys playing sports, and both treasure the precious moments they get with their two children. MJ, founder of Common Room Interior Studio, created a spacious and welcoming sunlit haven for this family of four, even throwing in a sauna for their sweet home.
"This place occupies 900 square feet, with an open and spacious layout that allows ample sunlight to flood in. There's also an outdoor garage that provides extra storage space, making the indoor environment comfortable and roomy” MJ said. “We have also created a smooth connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, blending the surrounding scenery with the interior of the house."
The dining room is conveniently situated near the terrace, allowing the family to appreciate the surrounding flowers, plants and trees while enjoying their meals with plenty of sunlight streaming in.
Not too far away from the dining room is an open kitchen with Laminam stone panels crafted in Italy for the countertops and backsplashes. The colours chosen for the kitchen are soothing, and the materials exceptionally durable.
The wall features custom open display shelves, designed with the female homeowner's passion for delicate ornament collection in mind, showcasing exquisite items like vases and paintings.
The central passage in the open kitchen leads to a sealed kitchen, preventing the dispersion of cooking fumes into the living area.
In the living area, a corner is designated for a piano, providing a space for the children to practise daily. On either side of the piano, wooden cabinets with a white hand-brushed paint finish are installed.
As for the master bedroom and children's room, all of them are oriented towards the west as per the homeowner's request, welcoming the sunlight.
Since the wife works from home, the dressing table in the master bedroom, positioned near the window, also doubles as a workstation.
In order to meet the couple's desire for a double basin setup and make the most of the limited space, the decision was made to allocate separate areas for the two basins and the toilet.
In addition to the en-suite bathroom, the master bedroom also features a compact and charming sauna.
Due to the limited space in the children's room, every inch is maximised. In addition to bunk beds, a loft bed, a study desk and storage cabinets, a reading corner is set up against the wall. A bookshelf is integrated into the side of the storage cabinet, and a comfortable cushioned seat is positioned adjacent to it. This clever arrangement enables children to sit and enjoy reading, while also creating an inviting space for parents to join them for studying or heart-to-hearts.
