Interior design studio hoo remodels a 627-sq.ft. apartment in Quarry Bay for a lady houseowner who craves an elegant and cosy living space.
Having resided in Quarry Bay some time back, the female homeowner takes a liking to the tranquility and rolling greenery of the neighborhood. When interior designer YC Chen is tasked with revamping her 627-sq.ft. apartment, he instantly goes for a warm Nordic style, adapting to the home's verdant surrounding environment.
"We proposed altering the existing kitchen into an open-plan cooking area to enhance the sense of space, but the client enjoys cooking on a daily basis and is concerned about the ventilation of an open kitchen, so we sack the plan," says Chen.
Chen instead combines the original three small bedrooms, transforming it into a master suite with a separate study. He also enlarges the bathroom to make room for a shower and a bathtub, accomodating one of the client's favourite pastimes. A pastel colour palette conjures a cosy and homey vibe.
"An apartment consisted of four white walls is rather drab, which is why we opt for a natural, feminine colour tone to imbue the space with warmth and grace. The walls that we retain are moslty painted in white and we match it with different tactile touches," adds Chen.
"As the client gets back from work every evening, she can just sit back and enjoy her me-time in the Nordic-style santuary she calls home."
