Interior designer Sara Story teams up various design influences to craft an abode that mirrors the distinct personality of its owners.
Set out to create the perfect modern backdrop for displaying their art pieces, the owners of this stunning house in Aspen, who are ardent art collectors, ringed the New York-based designer Sara Story. Located in Aspen – a year-round destination for outdoor recreation known to be the home of the rich and famous – Story has devised a plan wherein something surprising would happen in each room.
On first look, the contemporary dwelling is furnished with Greystone floors, Venetian plaster walls and blackened steel throughout. Filled with a remarkable art collection, the space is mixed with vintage and contemporary furniture from the likes of Boca do Lobo to create a playful yet stunning interior.
“Each artwork is in conversation with another piece, be it an art piece, a chair or a lamp,” says the designer. Though the residence employs a predominantly neutral palette, different elements inject dashes of fun and colour to the space, such as the dining table flanked by blue chairs that adds a touch of whimsy to the dining area. In the living room, the floor-to-ceiling windows look onto the spectacular mountain views in Aspen.
