littleMORE has curated a 328-square-feet home in Sai Ying Pun with a modern take on the iconic Art Deco style.
Set in a historical district up in the High Street, the special streetscape around the apartment sets a unique tone to the home, wherein lives a young expat who has a penchant for the Art Deco style. Through rearranging the space into an open plan from the initial 2-bedroom layout, the fluid abode now flows naturally with the owner’s lifestyle.
Every pocket of the space is appointed based on the owner’s needs. In the kitchen, the core area of the unit, there’s a large table for serving food and beverage during get-togethers. The bespoke high bar table adjacent to the bay window fits perfectly with the height of the seats. The living area and dining area, which takes almost half of the flat’s footprint, are adjoined to each other. It is where the owner can kick back, work and indulge in all sorts of leisure moments.
The dwelling has a charming Art Deco aura. The style is most prominent in the rounded corner treatment to the bay windows and the black metal framed partition to the bedroom. Whereas open-grained walnut wood and olive green are the key materials, the herringbone pattern wood flooring adds more tactile texture to the space. Brass elements in the feature light fittings and other disc decorative items instil the apartment with understated elegance.
At the rear end, the closet area is linked with the bathroom to unify the space for washing and dressing up. A deep blue wallpaper in bold geometric pattern punctuates the area with pops of colours and a sense of sophistication.
