Located in the historical centre of the capital city Kyiv, Ukraine, the Olive Shade Apartment is 940-sq.ft. two-room residence the homeowners decided to rent for a long-term.
The landlord tapped the shoulder of Design Buro Odintsova to create a vibrant atmosphere with a minimalistic interior, which would attract a young family and add value to a rental property. Complete with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a laundry room, the apartment’s hallway has lots of built-in storage space and leads to a living room.
For the design team, the main task was properly segmenting the spaces, in particular, creating division between the living room and open plan kitchen. The dominant colours – dusty olive, light grey and taup – are calm and natural. This colour mix works perfect with some light beige wooden finishes. Among other sustainable materials, the team utilised cotton for upholstery, curtains, woolen tapestry and natural stone for floor covering in the bathroom.
In the living room, a round mirror with a geometric pattern became a vibrant accent point of the space. The same decor technique applied to the bedroom, using light grey wallpaper with repeating geometric patterns.
