Nestled in a quaint neighbourhood atop Mid-levels, this 863-sq.ft. apartment done by JAAK is the perfect family home for a clan of three.
The 863-sq.ft. apartment at Mid-levels flat is in need of a remodelling to accommodate the wants and needs of a growing family. By separating the public and private areas, the more communal spaces – including the living room, dining area, kitchen, and guest bathroom – now sit at the fore of the home, providing the family a central, interconnected environment for relaxation and entertainment.
The design team adds in pocket sliding doors for the family to mix and mingle with one another and segment individual spaces for increased privacy. Understanding the married couple’s wish in minimising their child’s exposure to electrical gadgets, thoughtful details have gone into crafting living spaces that foster convivial family relationships. The soft textures and rounded corners, for instance, offers the child safe and ample spaces to play and move around.
Given the absence of fixed walls, the design team looks to colours and material to imbue the home with personality. Pared-back and restrained, the palette shifts from grey and peach hues fanning over the walls and ceilings, to dusty pink and red furnishings punctuated by gold accents at every nook and corner.
The materials are consistent and chosen for their hardwearing, textural and visual appeals. While honey-toned oak wood flooring forms the central base of the home, the kitchen opts for a dusty green tiling to distinguish it from the rest of the home.
The master bedroom and bathroom goes for a solemn palette along with green paint and furnishings to instil a sense of tranquillity. It’s a soothing place for the family to unwind and rejuvenate after play time.
