Tucked in boyfriend shirts, sleek tote bags and fuss-free flats – former actress Meghan Markle has made her mark as a fashion icon in Hollywood for her signature style long before she caught the eye of Prince Harry.
In fact, she was considered a connoisseur of sorts in things such as fashion, food, lifestyle, travel and even interior design, having regularly shared her insights and snapshots across her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig as well as Instagram – screenshots of which fans made a dash to collect before they were shut down. These have also inspired guesses as to how she and her husband have decorated their current home of Frogmore Cottage.
One thing for certain is that Meghan’s style has barely seen any major makeover since she married into the royal family. Rather, she has stayed true to the style that has regularly placed her on many best-dressed lists: think neutral colours – grey, white, taupe and black – clean lines and tailor-fitted silhouettes.
The aesthetic was also found in her former Toronto home, which has previously made plenty of appearances across social media. And now, the same can be said for her newly-revealed Los Angeles home that she shared with ex-husband Trevor Engelson, images of which had been kept rather secretive until now.
Located in Hancock Park and a stone’s throw away from downtown Hollywood, the charming colonial 1920s-style home spans 2,262sqft and features 4 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, a family room and fireplace-quipped dining and living area – all seamlessly connected via an open-air design.
Abundant natural light drenches all rooms of the home, especially in the open kitchen, the airiness of which is amplified with crisp white cabinets and marble countertops, making it easy for Meghan, a self-proclaimed “foodie” who loves to cook, to whip up a gourmet feast for her friends to be enjoyed in the terrace-equipped dining room.
The home’s minimalist style is reminiscent of Meghan’s preferred aesthetic for her outfits – minimalist, earthy and always elegant, adorned with touches of playful, colourful accents.
Rumours have gone around of Meghan and Harry investing in a California home to be closer to her mother, Doria. Safe to say, fans and royal watchers will be hard-pressed to get a glimpse of the property; the interior design of Meghan’s former homes will surely help to serve up plenty of aesthetic references as to how it is likely to be decorated.
