Story Architecture divided the 2,583 sq. ft. house into two parts, connected by a suspension bridge that acts as a playground for the kids.
To meet the correct number of bedrooms and other living areas for a young couple with three kids and their grandmother, the 2,583 sq. ft. house appears too narrow and long. In order to solve this problem while ensuring enough light and ventilation for each room, Story Architecture offers a solution by dividing the house into two blocks and leaving the space in the middle for a sky well connected by the turquoise bridge.
After entering the house, the living room, the kitchen, and a foyer with a two-way staircase are on the ground level. Parted in the middle, the stairway leads to two sides of the house, considered as two living blocks at each end, allowing all tenants to have their comfort and privacy.
Considering how the sky well in the middle might create distance between two zones, Story Architecture decided to fashion the house with a pop of turquoise on the suspension bridge, linking two flats on each floor together. This feature also acts as a playground for the children, in which a memory of their childhood is formed.
The parallel division on the ceiling creates slices of light, illuminating the entire house without letting in too much sunlight. Just like the use of colour, every element in the Ngôi nhà có cây cầu xanh (the house with the turquoise bridge) is subtle and yet, apparent because sometimes, less is more.
