Japanese design, soothing beige tones and elegant minimalism weave together to create a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
The homeowners are fans of all of the above design elements, and wanted to embrace timeless elegance rather than fleeting trends. Since the couple enjoys entertaining family and friends at home, designer Marcus Chan from Mae Design Studio chose a spacious living room concept that is perfect for the couple's lifestyle. The design focused on clean, understated materials and colours, with unique arc lines and an array of rich textures.
"This residential project seamlessly integrates organic and natural elements into its design by using materials like straight-grained oak, travertine marble, rattan and textiles along with neutral shades of dark and earthy tones," Chan said. "The design emphasises natural light, thus creating a serene and peaceful home environment for the owner."
Chan consciously opted for durable and eco-friendly materials, with travertine featuring prominently in his selection. For instance, he skillfully used travertine to adorn the wall in the dining room corner between the hanging and floor cabinets, adding layers and texture to the beige room. Likewise, the oak was mainly used for the base and shoe cabinets and long seats, which were integrated into the arches to create a consistent and orderly appearance.
The welcoming and inviting ambiance of the entire home, from the hallway to the bedroom, is due to the presence of wooden furniture that exudes a warm and cosy texture. With the clever combination of rattan and soft fabrics, the homely feel of the house is elevated to perfection.
Take a closer look at the kitchen wall and appreciate the precise placement of the wall tiles that form an intricate pattern, showcasing the geometric beauty of the design.
