How to make the most of a compact living space remains a perennial challenge for designers in Hong Kong. Such is the test In-between Architects was put under when the team was tasked with reimagining a 800-sq.ft. three-bedroom apartment for a young lawyer couple.
Both the homeowners enjoy working from home in daytime and hosting guests at night, and their lifestyle inspire the design team to integrate fluted-glass sliding panels, opening up the otherwise awkward clusters of space and turning them into an airy, cool space that can offer the couple privacy should they desire it.
Corridor was completely broken down to make room for a multi-purpose lounge area that doubles as yet another centre of the home; it’s the ideal space for quiet reading moments and doing yoga.
The original bathrooms having been repurposed, there’s a two-meter-long stone countertop with built-in basins and a generous walk-in rain-shower room.
Walls across the abode are dedicated to the couple’s compelling art, shown under carefully designed lightings. For that very purpose, the team went for the Wever & Ducré flexible track system, which allows for easy interchanging between multiple light sources, including spotlight, LED strips and pendant lamps, to enliven the beautiful art.
