Robeson Architects helmed the renovation of this two-storey residence for a couple and their four children and puppy.
Perched on a busy street in Mount Lawley, the house is designed such a way that maximises the views to both the leafy Hyde Park just down the road and the city skyline. But the design team also had the family’s privacy in mind.
“The challenge was coming up with a contemporary house that suits family’s needs and at the same time fits in with its surrounding streetscape. Given that it houses two storeys whereas its neighbours are single-storied, it shouldn’t have an overly imposing aura,” said Simone Robeson, of Robeson Architects.
The owners made it clear that they have a penchant for a clean and minimalist aesthetic, informing details such as the recessed handrail with integrated strip lighting, negative skirting boards and door architraves.
While the living and dining room, the children’s bedroom, the pool deck and pool are located on the ground floor, the upper floor features the master wing (bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, and ensuite) and roof deck; in the basement are a double car garage and mud room.
