Inside this 1,200 sq.ft. apartment at Lohas Park in Tseung Kwan O, local design firm Canter & Gallop Design Ltd. (CGD) has crafted a Kyoto-inspired sanctuary that brings Japan's famed bamboo forests to Hong Kong's doorstep.

The homeowners tasked CGD with translating their love for Japanese tranquility into their cliff-side home. The result merges minimalist luxury with nature-inspired elements, all while maximizing the apartment's sweeping ocean views.

The entrance sets the tone immediately. Hand-glazed green ceramic tiles, matching the hues of bamboo leaves, cloak a floor-to-ceiling shoe cabinet. This verdant theme flows right into the living space, where similar tiles are integrated into wooden display cabinetry spanning the room.

One architectural highlight goes to the ceiling. Curved wooden panels arch overhead, mimicking bamboo canopies, while strategic horizontal slats conceal lighting systems. Custom furniture throughout draws inspiration from bamboo grove terrains, featuring organic forms and natural materials.

Architectural details remain understated yet impactful throughout. Wooden wall linings pair with cylindrical window frames, while cream bouclé fabric and green velvet upholstery add tactile luxury. In the bedrooms and study, cove lighting illuminates vaulted ceilings, creating intimate spaces for reflection.
