The homeowners, a couple with three children, desired a luxurious, well-lit home, with a sense of grandeur. The overall design of the home adopts a calm and luxurious style, featuring extensive use of marble and metal details to create a luxurious flair, complemented by the gentle curves on the ceiling throughout.

Keith Choi, co-founder of Mstudio, said: “A departure from the typical rectangular layout, curved lines on the ceiling open up spatial perspectives and make the room visually more comfortable.”

The homeowners are tea lovers, so the designer divided the living room into three main zones: the living, dining, and tea areas. Most of the interior walls are covered with leather, paired with steel and marble to create a sumptuous vibe. The movable furniture has been primarily sourced from Italy, complementing the custom-made on-site furniture for an elegant style.

The polished marble flooring showcases natural grey textures, adding rich visual layers and an air of sophistication against the predominantly white background. The entrance floor features lighter tones and stone mosaic patterns, creating a visual effect likened to a carpet.

Marcus Ko, another founder of Mstudio, said: “The homeowners wished to have all furniture hardware assembled on-site, so we had to carefully co-ordinate the delivery schedules and handovers with different material suppliers for the assembly. The entire construction process was very complex. It took a year to complete.”

The original maid’s room and storage room have been merged to create a more spacious children’s suite and walk-in closet.

Tips

Upon reflection
Make the most of natural light with polished marble flooring that reflects light. Even though the home is blessed with ample natural light, polished marble flooring is a good way to enhance the overall brightness because the surface reflects sunlight.

Living Room

Shine a light
Add embedded light sources to let the natural patterns of the marble stand out more. Here, the edges of the ceiling and marble panels are fitted with embedded light sources that provide indirect lighting, making the marble patterns stand out more prominently.
