Picture-perfect kitchens, well-primped gardens and charming nurseries? Check, check and check.
In the past few years, a new crop of modern-day homeowners—from models to interior designers, stay-at-home parents and entrepreneurs alike, each boasting up to millions of social media followers—have elicited many an envious sigh over their impeccably put-together abodes.
Deliberate yet quirky in their decorating styles, they are masters at injecting an accessible, understated charm into their spaces that is often essential to their successes.
While not all that is seen on social media can be trusted, it doesn’t stop us from seriously coveting—and trying to steal a decorating tip or two from—these tastemakers, from their use of colour palettes to furniture placements and the types of flora that adorn their corners.
Luckily, they are as happy to open their doors as we are to peek:
Jillian Harris
TV personality, interior designer and blogger by day and mother-of-two by night, this Canuck host of HGTV’s Love It or List It with close to 1 million Instagram followers boasts serious credentials in the decorating scene, having gotten her interior design degree from The British Columbia Institute of Technology before signing on as a designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Love It or List It Vancouver.
Her sprawling one-acre, 3,500sqft Kelowna, British Colombia property, which she shares with her partner and two toddlers and includes a picturesque tree-lined pool (pictured), was designed from scratch. A peachy, cream-coloured palette punctuated by wood beams envelopes statement decor pieces, including brass-gold lamps, plush pink bed frames, beaded chandeliers, French doors and mosaic-style area carpets.

Kelly Mindell
Practically each room of her residence stands out with a unique colour scheme, but one thing’s for certain: they’re all as fun-loving as their owner Kelly Mindell, blogger and creator of lifestyle company Studio DIY.
Boasting over 394,000 followers on Instagram and known for her crafty handmade projects that range from recipes to balloons, this DIY expert accented her home with pops of colours that accompany artisanal accessories and furnishings sourced from all around the world. Case in point: the seven rugs and handmade Moroccan tiles giving this bathroom an exotic pizzazz.
Kristin Johns
This California-based beauty youtuber boasting 155,000 followers may be known as much for her overalls-wearing, girl-next-door charm as her knack for painting the perfect face. But with the beautiful renovation that this first-time homeowner has given her sun-drenched 1940s Los Angeles abode—which she shares with her husband and two golden retrievers—her natural flair for interior design has also been enjoying the spotlight.
An avid foliage-enthusiast—her home is sprinkled with some 60 plants—Kristin favours flee market finds, hand-painted art, lush knits and an overall rustic aesthetics. She has also recently launched her homeware and accessories brand, Kristin Made, and regularly puts her gardening skills on show on her channel.
Solenn Heussaff
Having first garnered fame on Philippines’ iteration of the reality show Survivor, this French-Filipino multi-hyphenate with 5.1 million followers on Instagram is an accomplished actor, singer, painter and carpet designer, who recently partnered with Studio Soliven to release her designer rug collection inspired from the hues and abstract visuals of nature.
She and her husband reside in a four-year-old multi-story in the heart of Manila to which she’s given a tropical makeover. “Homey, jungle-y, Havana, Moroccan chic,” Solenn describes of the home, which is imbued with warm-beige furnishings, plenty of flora, patterned wallpapers and a statement area rug that is the centrepiece of the entire home.
