Casa Natura's clutter-free white interiors exude a serene and elegant ambience, looking as light as a feather elegantly rising from the ground.
Casa Natura, which means “natural house”, takes its name from the property's strategic design of adapting to the landscape it sits on. Design studio Cotaparedes Arquitectos created this 3,347 sq. ft. home in Guadalajara, Mexico around the client's unique needs.
Cotaparedes Arquitectos believes privacy is not a luxury, but a necessity of human beings. As such, they prioritised the inhabitants' privacy by using it as a main design clue to connect the villa's outdoors and indoors.
The house’s exterior plays with three main materials: white concrete, cement plaster with white paint and stone pavement. The designers formed a cantilevered wall on top of the house's main structure to prevent the sun’s harsh gaze. The white slab also gives the homeowners privacy while allowing light to meet the interiors.
“We decided to propose a descending section sending the social piece backwards and at the same time gaining a ceiling height of 13 feet,” Cotaparedes Arquitectos explained.
The open-plan kitchen, living and dining room creates an ample open space with a courtyard and a single olive tree. The room is lit up by the calm white palette that reflects plenty of natural light, with white marble floor that extends to the entire patio.
As asked by the clients, the design team installed a two-in-one bathroom on the ground floor for both residents and guests. Moving upstairs through the floating wooden staircase adhered to the wall, you'll find three ensuite bedrooms and a multipurpose room that gives the house members their private space to relax, with a private terrace that overlooks the street.
