This 600-square-meter family home of five, tucked deep in the scenic mountains of Transcaucasia, was designed entirely remotely.

“The owners of this home, a young couple with three children, are long-time clients of mine,” says Sabina Valieva of Sabina Valieva Interiors, the creative mind of this secluded family retreat. “This villa became our fourth project together, allowing us to complete it entirely remotely.”

The goal was to create a bright and airy space where the family could connect and enjoy each other's company. The home also needed to be practical for a young family, with plenty of storage, easy-to-clean surfaces, and durable furniture that could withstand the energy of three kids and a playful dog.

“When the owners purchased the land, it was just an empty field,” recounts Valieva. “The villa was built from the ground up, with the plot leveled specifically for construction due to the hilly terrain. The house was constructed by a hired architect, while I was responsible for the interior design and assisting with the selection of exterior materials, including the façade color, terrace finishes, pool area, and outdoor tiles. In front of the house, we also designed a swimming pool, planned the landscaping down to the last square meter, and built a terrace.”

The two-story villa centers around an open-plan ground floor, where the living room, dining area, and kitchen flow seamlessly into one another. The living room is bathed in light thanks to the panoramic windows, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The kitchen includes a hidden pantry and direct access to a covered veranda with a fireplace and a large dining table.  Near the living room is the master suite, which consists of a bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet, and guest bathroom. The garage is also located on the ground floor. The second floor houses a hall, a relaxation area with access to a large open terrace, bedrooms for the three children, each with their walk-in closets and bathrooms, and a guest suite. A separate bathroom with a shower and a sauna is located next to the pool.

Valieva's design is all about simplicity and light. The home features a calming color scheme of white, ivory, and natural wood. “We wanted the interior of the house to emphasize this light, creating a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere where one would want to spend as much time as possible, enjoying the space at any time of day,” says the designer.

Thoughtfully placed lighting adds to the home's peaceful ambiance. Recessed ceiling lights and strategically placed track lights highlight artwork and furniture, while floor lamps create a cozy glow in the evenings. Many of the decorative pieces, including beautiful paintings, were created by the homeowner, adding a personal touch to the space.
