This 2,906 sq.ft. Da Nang residence overcomes the limitations of a narrow plot of land with clever arrangements.
BOW.atelier designed a residential project in the Cam Le district for a young couple who love greenery and gardening. Taking advantage of the natural elements and integrating them into the living space, it imbued the home with individuality and nature. As a result of this idea, the couple now have their dream space filled with bespoke designs, far from the stress of the office.
Ry's House aims to create an introverted environment, bringing the vitality of an abode to the indoors. It was for this reason that the homeowners decided to refocus the main focal point of their residence inside. The concrete façade of Ry's House keeps the building's minimal look while allowing it to have a connection with the outdoors, shown by the hedge of vine leaves on the balconies.
Even with the limitations of a 16x65 (ft) plot, BOW.atelier managed to achieve an interchanging sense of openness and closeness. A variety of knots form the abode's boundaries, creating unforeseeable arrangements that divide Ry's House into many playful gaps and divisions.
Because Ry's House stretches from Eastside to Westside, it is gifted with abundant natural light coming through the various open frames, letting the sun illuminate the house and creating beautiful light and shadow effects. With vibrant greens surrounding the residence, the space always seems lively, filling the tube house with a deeper sense of spatial-visual liveliness.
The fine mixture of greenery, concrete and wood sets different environments and moods for the house. Furthermore, the combination of multiple green hues makes sure the home doesn’t look or feel repetitive. Instead, the plants' variety of shades and the interior complement each other.
Ry's House is furnished with a minimal aesthetic and packed with plants that make it look like an indoor botanical garden, where guests can enjoy fresh herbs and vegetables. Enhancing the well-being of those who reside here and the look of this arboreal and enchanted home. Formulated right before COVID-19 took over, the garden acted as the main supplier of vegetables for the family, making the 3-month quarantine less heavy on everyone by allowing them to still be connected with nature and easing up the feeling of being in one closed space.
According to the firm, practice makes perfect as it grows and searches for beauty in structural spaces. This is something that BOW.atelier has found in Ry’s House and hopes to keep continuing their journey in future projects.
