Home to a family of three, the abode strikes a delicate balance between French classical style and modernism to bring a cosy accent to the space.
The 1,608-square-feet flat at The Cullinan atop Kowloon Station has been overhauled and reconfigured by Woo Sang Design. The use of matching patterns yields a unique French-style Parisian home. Taking into consideration the family needs, the design team maximizes the practicality and storage.
A reoganisation of the layout was the first task, then the space was divided into public and private areas with smooth movement lines. The lockers, with French-style wind cabinet doors, in the living and dining area are placed next to each other – they look like decorative walls at first glance but can also separate different spaces as well as increase storage space.
Wallpaper is used throughout the unit to brighten up the interiors. For example, the entrance hall is decked wall-to-wall in elegant floral wallpaper paintings and pure white line boards; while the simplistic cloth wallpaper in the corridor and the leaf wallpaper on the faux fireplace create a sense of comfort and cosiness.
Stepping into the living room, the modern crystal chandelier illuminates the modern dining table, the sofa exuding a prominent French style. The customized marble-faced sand-gold steel-legged coffee table is matched with the embossed lacquered frame on the faux fireplace, carving out a posh ambience.
The master bedroom is furnished with brown-gray walls and black rough wood wardrobes to showcase different characters. The desk adopts an electroplated gray steel table, jazzing up the overall visual effect such that it's more airy and refreshing.
