Situated in the historical location of Kaifeng, Pullman Kaifeng Jianye is an elegant study on traditional Chinese architecture. Helmed by Singapore-based design studio LTW, the hotel unassumingly exudes the grandeur of Kaifeng’s imperial past and its sense of place. Blending old and new touches, such as modern, full-length glass windows and a sloping roof design that pays tribute to the nation’s historic architecture, the property fits in perfectly with its neighbouring ancient palace walls. Make sure to stop in at the Xi Bar, a spacious watering hole that features a harmonious mix of modern furniture and statement lighting with lattice dividers. Guest rooms and suites are decorated with murals inspired by ancient Chinese art and lantern-like lighting.
