A Frank Gehry sculptural beauty that graces the Thames.
Sitting right next to the soon-to-open Grade II-listed Battersea Power Station on the south bank of the River Thames, Prospect Place is a twin-tower residential project that doubles as a work of sculptural art by acclaimed architectural firm Gehry Partners, LLP.
The development is comprised of two buildings, offering a total of 308 homes of studios and one, two, and three bedroom apartments, alongside four bedroom town houses and penthouses designed by Gehry Partners, allowing each residence to stand out in its own right. All apartments enjoy access to either a winter garden or terrace, while most of them receive views of the iconic Power Station.
But nothing draws the eyes better than its undulating façades, which bear Frank Gehry’s distinctive free-flow architectural trademark that graces skylines throughout the world. Taking cues from the billowing sails, the rippled façades sync well with the sweeping lines of the adjacent Battersea Roof Gardens. Between the buildings is a garden exclusive to residents, done by landscape architect LDA Design.
Inside, the abodes are governed by two colour palettes – London and LA. The former celebrates industrial chic with metal finishes and contrasting rich textures to echo the historical elements of the adjacent Power Station, and the latter draws upon warmer climates with the use of light hues and pale wooden finishes to complement the waterfront neighbourhood.
Residents can enjoy a host of upscale amenities, including a 8,350 square foot private Sky Lounge, a sunset bar, workspaces, cinema room, lounge areas and a gym. On top of it, the Battersea Roof Gardens will comprise 232 new apartments, new retail space, and a 164-room hotel.
The historic Battersea Power Station is undergoing a £9 billion regeneration into a retail, culture and leisure hub slated to launch later this year. When completed, the neighbourhood will be home to more than 100 shops, bars and restaurants, office space, a six-acre riverfront park as well as one-of-a-kind experiences, including the Chimney Lift, making the new neighbourhood one of the most coveted addresses in central London.
