Urban Garden
As seasoned travellers and discerning tastemakers are increasingly conscious about the environmental impact of tourism, a demand for an eco-friendly accommodation has grown in popularity. Specialising in architecture, urban planning and engineering, Japan-based firm Nikken Sekkei helms the design for the Alva Hotel by Royal in Sha Tin, which encourages sustainable architecture and a healthy lifestyle. The striking V-shaped construction takes its cue from a soothing scene of a large bird resting on an island, transporting guests to a place of harmonious nature. The hotel is set to open later this year.
