French luxury furniture maker Roche Bobois and art and design luminary Jiang Qiong Er unveiled their first collaboration Bamboo Mood at an inspiring panel talk co-hosted with Home Journal.
On 6 December, Home Journal co-hosted an intimate panel discussion with Roche Bobois exploring the intersection of French and Chinese aesthetics, where artist-designer Jiang Qiong Er offered her takes on Sino-French design sensibilities while unveiling the new "Bamboo Mood" collection.
"I have known Roche Bobois for 20 years, since their arrival in China," says Jiang. "It is our first collaboration, and it helps diversifying the cultural and creative inspiration of the French brand, but also celebrates the anniversary of their presence in China."
Marking 60 years of Sino-French diplomatic relations, the collection takes cues from bamboo, a symbol of essential values in Chinese culture. Governed primarily by coral and celadon colors, the series evokes different melodies through its sleek silhouette, meticulous bamboo fabrics and artisanal craftsmanship woven throughout its comprehensive product line. The collection includes sofas, coffee and console tables, rugs, screens, lamps and decorative accessories, creating a forest-like retreat that's equal parts lively and serene.
"Bamboo has always fascinated me," says the Franco-Chinese artist. "I designed this new bamboo-inspired collection as an invitation to travel; an inexhaustible source of inspiration, poetry, and dreams."
The event, held at Roche Bobois' renovated showroom, was attended by a gathering of design aficionados who experienced the collection firsthand. The collection is available at Roche Bobois showrooms at: Shop 1, G/F, Horizon Plaza, 2 Lee Wing Street, Ap Lei Chau.
