At the newly rejuvenated Tower Wing of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Buds by Shangri-La is set to create more good reasons to bring the kids along for the ride.
Making room for children while families travel, the 2,150sqm activity space features a colourful array of climbs, slides, and ball pits, as well as four themed rooms for young impressionable minds to run wild.
There’s Muddy, a fully stocked arts and crafts room; Stage, the budding performer’s arena complete with a mic and grand piano; Bake, a fully equipped kitchen for both children and parents to enjoy cooking and baking sessions; and Party Room, for special celebrations.
Occupying the Tower Wing’s first floor, Buds has been thoughtfully designed for families with young children. Recharge Café lets parents enjoy a coffee while waiting for the kids. For young ones under four, there’s also the Toddler Zone, a dedicated space within Buds outfitted with slides, a piano floor, and a ball pit, while a nursing room is conveniently accessible next door.
Creating spaces for time apart as well as together is key to a well-rounded experience for the whole family. Once outside, the make-believe continues with a giant pirate ship, more climbs and slides, as well as a fun water zone with splash pads. Time in the outdoors can also be had in the spacious, 40,500sqm garden. Back at the hotel, families can take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, complete with a wading area and fountain.
At the end of the day, retreats to the Tower Wing are made all the more special with the ninth floor’s five themed family suites and 19 deluxe family rooms. The suites, each 72sqm large, feature immersive interiors and beds to match their respective themes: safari, treetop, castle, underwater, and space. A tunnel adds an imaginative dimension to the fun, connecting the children’s bedroom to the parents’.
The suites also come with a deep vanity sink for baby washing, space for nappy changing, as well as an induction heater. Families will appreciate the in-room check-in service for the added convenience, as well as the centralised pantry – also on the ninth floor – fully equipped with a steriliser and an induction heater. The hotel also supplies amenities from children’s furniture brand Stokke, available upon request.
In a chapter of family life rife with both challenges and rewards, it’s worth opting for the travel destinations that heap on more of the latter – from the thoughtful and basic, to the fun and imaginative.
