Located in the Peacock City in Xishuangbanna, China, Cháo Hotel brings a unique concept of a “dream theater” while respecting the local geography and architecture.
Designed by Funs Creative Design Consultant, led by Robin Luo, the 2,000-square-meter space integrates minimalism with modernity, reinterpreting the Bauhaus spirit and elevating the vacation experience in this border city.
The lobby serves as the opening act, with simple lines and bold colour blocks intersecting to create a cinematic atmosphere. Natural wood burl textures complement the curves of Irish green stone, blending Art Deco influences with a modern aesthetic. Subtle ambient lighting invites guests to relax and immerse themselves in the vacation mood.
The guest rooms are designed as private dreamscapes. The layout adheres to the Bauhaus principle of “form follows function,” combining modern colours with vintage details. Custom furnishings and soft décor reflect a balance of rationality and spontaneity, creating a joyful and comfortable environment. Highlights include private balconies and pools overlooking the Lancang River, where guests can enjoy poetic views of the surrounding landscape.
The terrace is the hotel’s grand finale, extending the theater concept outdoors. Minimalist letter-shaped lightboxes evoke the opening credits of a film, while cyberpunk-inspired seating and dramatic lighting create a striking visual impact. Guests can celebrate or find solitude in this dreamlike, cloud-level setting.
Cháo Hotel blends modern design, cultural respect, and artistic touches, offering an unforgettable experience that feels like stepping into a dream.
