Harrods' Christmas windows in London have always been legendary, but the retail behemoth has outdone itself this year by teaming up with Dior to transform into an exquisite gingerbread house.
From now until January 3, 2023, Dior will be celebrating Christmas with the historic department store through The Fabulous World of Dior.
Dior motifs such as the compass rose, lucky stars and flowers – as interpreted by artist Pietro Ruffo for the Dior cruise 2023 collection – now decorate the facade of Harrods’ ornate Edwardian architecture. A team of 200 people worked on the facade for over a year and installed it over a two-week period, resulting in an Instagrammer’s delight.
Warm brown and caramel-hued interiors await you inside, where you’ll find two novel pop-up boutiques that draw decor inspiration from the most beautiful Christmas fairy tales. The first is designed as an authentic gingerbread house representing Monsieur Dior’s Atelier, summoning visitors to discover 30 Montaigne and its creations. The second, a gift shop, invites everyone to find the perfect present for loved ones. Then in the heart of the store, an exhibition has reproduced the architecture of Dior’s emblematic locations – from Granville to La Colle Noire and 30 Montaigne – in reduced gingerbread model proportions.
If you need to refuel after some heavy shopping, head over to the newly-constructed Dior café which resembles the gingerbread house from Hansel and Gret. The café serves up French cuisine classics with a twist of British influence, such as Cornish crab with green apple or Atlantic lobster Thermidor and yuzu vinaigrette.
The Fabulous World of Dior, Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Rd, SW1X 7XL. Open until 3 January 2023.
