Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will be hosting "Autumn Sourcing Week|ONLINE" (ASWO) in November virtually in light of pandemic.
The 12-day online trade fair, scheduled to take place between 16 and 27 November, will take on the theme “A New Connected World Beyond the New Normal” this year as a one-stop online sourcing platform for buyers and suppliers to explore business opportunities across various industries. They include electronics, lighting, outdoor tech light, eco tech, watch and clock, optical, toys, baby products, stationery, houseware as well as gifts and premium.
It follows the success of the digital-only "Summer Sourcing Weeks | Go ONLINE" back in July, which drew more than 1,300 exhibitors and some 13,000 registered buyers from 118 countries and regions.
Benjamin Chau, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, commented: “The uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic have led more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to focus on online promotions and operations, which has quickly become the ‘new normal’ for conducting business. Given that the pandemic has prevented buyers and exhibitors from meeting in person, the HKTDC has introduced online business matching to enable networking and deal-making.”
The digital event, he added, aims to expand the e-commerce capabilities of Hong Kong companies and to better prepare them for the post-COVID market.
Harnessing big data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, HKTDC has rolled out a digital business matchmaking platform, dubbed Click2Match, to foster deeper business connections between buyers and suppliers, providing both parties with online self-service tools including tailor-made virtual meeting, meeting planner, live chat, video meeting, and e-business card exchange.
