Outdoor gardens are hard to come by in Hong Kong, but for those who don’t have access to one, there are plenty of alternatives. Consider setting up a rooftop or balcony garden – this is a good place for bougainvillea, freesias or osmanthus, which are all suitable for Hong Kong’s climate. There are also a number of plants that can thrive in sunny spots inside the home.

If you don’t have much of a green thumb, opt for fresh-cut flowers. Set the flowers out with some garden accessories, such as a vintage watering can, to give them an indoor-outdoor feel. Arrange the flowers loosely and go easy on the greenery for that fresh-from-the-garden look. Cut flowers aren’t the only option for a blooming centerpiece – why not try a pretty potted plant instead?
