A bed and breakfast are nice, but for today’s traveller, formerly ‘extra’ amenities are now basic offerings that score extra points.
A cafe, a co-working space, and a crossfit gym: these are the perks that come with staying at Whitworth Locke, an apartment-hotel in Manchester by Locke Hotels.
It’s defined by a combination of your community and ability to maintain your daily habits.
Designed by New York-based architects and designers Grzywinski+Pons, Whitworth Locke is built out of a former cotton mill, featuring 160 studios and suites with bespoke furniture and Smeg kitchens, fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils and dishes – all intended towards a homely environment that works for long and short stays alike.
The interiors are boldly and tastefully dressed with motifs in blush and lemon, taupe and terracotta, emerald and grey blue. A glass atrium in the centre of the structure houses pop-up bar The Conservatory, while Manchester coffee house Foundation Coffee has also set up shop.
“We’ve created a space where people can truly feel at home. From our perspective, a second home is more than the four walls,” says Eric Jafari, Locke co-founder and creative director. “It’s defined by a combination of your community and ability to maintain your daily habits.”
