In partnership with NFMoon and 4Space, Pace Verso recently announces Jeff Koons’  first-ever NFT project. Titled “Jeff Koons: Moon Phases”, the NFT collection marks one of the world’s most prominent living artist’s highly anticipated venture into the metaverse, exploring the imagination and technological innovation of the human race.

“I wanted to create a historically meaningful NFT project rooted in humanistic and philosophical thought. Our achievements in space represent the limitless potential of humanity. Space explorations have given us a perspective of our ability to transcend worldly constraints,” says Koons.

“These ideas are central to my NFT project, which can be understood as a continuation and celebration of humanity’s aspirational accomplishments within and beyond our own planet.”

Each piece in the NFT collection comprises a unique digital work and corresponding physical sculptures, a group of which will make a lunar landing on an Intuitive Machines Nova-C Lunar Lander, to be launched on pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in a fully autonomous mission later this year.

For over four decades Koons’ famed stainless-steel sculptures and paintings have engaged popular culture, mass media and art history, playing a key role in shaping contemporary aesthetics.

His work often connects images and ideas across geographic and temporal boundaries. Conversing with conceptual art, minimalism and pop art, his works can be found in the major museums the world over, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo.
