Reinterpreting the traditional architectural features and layout of a townhouse with a modern perspective, Joyce Wang Studio breathes new life into The Berkeley, London.
Joyce Wang is a name barely needs any introduction. The famed designer has made a name for herself curating luxury interiors for hospitality and residential spaces the world over, and her newest work involves refurbishing the rooms and suites at The Berkeley Hotel at London.
Taking cues from London’s famed Hyde Park, the revamped interiors reinterpret traditional architectural features and the layout of a townhouse from a modern perspective. Through a carefully curated, eclectic mix of selected furniture, bespoke designs, and commission artwork and objects, each space nurtures engagement and a unique connection with nature.
Augmenting views across Hyde Park, the studio has created a personal “library” next to the window. Both the millwork and cladding throughout the suites gives out contrast and the chosen material palette is inspired by the dynamic natural tones typical of Hyde Park throughout the rolling seasons.
These niches bring together an array of talented emerging makers: Rathabana is responsible for the intricate metal work on all furniture pieces, CMO Paris constructed woven screens carefully dividing each section of the suite, and Golran provided hand-made, custom rugs throughout the penthouses.
