Kaws is gearing up for a big summer with the Kaws: Holiday project, which has already landed in Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan and outer space since 2018.
Making its sixth stop – this time to the sky – the Kaws: Holiday project sees Companion, one of Kaws’ signature character, as one of the world’s largest sculptural hot-air balloon measuring 42-meter tall and take passengers up for breathtaking views of the world in an airborne adventure.
In partnership with Hong Kong creative agency AllRightsReserved, the larger-than-life hot-air balloon recently took to the sky in Bristol, United Kingdom – known as the hot-air balloon capital – and will take off on a world tour at the end of this year. The journey is now open for package inquiry and will accept both flat and cryptocurrency payments via FTX Pay on the DDT webstore.
Noting that the ongoing pandemic situation has brought unprecedented challenges to global travelling, Kaws says: “I’m happy to be able to continue working on exciting projects like Kaws: Holiday and hope it can bring some inspiration during our ongoing global situation.”
To celebrate the latest addition to the Kaws: Holiday series, the artist created a series of six-inch-tall Companion collectibles, which arrive in three colourway: brown, grey and black. Additionally, Kaws offers up limited-edition containers in the same figurine construction and a hoodie featuring the series’ signature character surrounded by clouds.
