The newly opened Nobis Hotel Palma combines contemporary luxury with 1,000 years of history. Housed in one of Palma’s oldest buildings, it features stunning interior design by Wingårdhs and architecture by Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitectos. The hotel preserves the building's historic elements, such as transforming an ancient fountain into a small pool and a former escape-route tunnel into a serene nine-metre-high ceiling. The hotel also includes a unique cocktail bar with soaring ceilings, two inner courtyards, a rooftop terrace, and a signature restaurant led by renowned chef Xema Álvarez. Nobis Hotel Palma seamlessly blends the past and present to create a harmonious atmosphere.
This historic structure, a mediaeval Islamic palace from the 12th century, is organised around two beautiful interior patios. Despite experiencing a fire and earthquake, the original courtyards of the structure survived and were later repurposed as a private residence for noble Mallorcan families. During the mid-15th century, the complex underwent a Gothic renovation, and two centuries later, it was transformed into a Baroque style. Today, the building retains numerous features that reflect its over 1,000 years of history.
Nobis Hotel Palma seamlessly blends the past and present with an interior concept by Wingårdhs and an architectural plan by Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitectos. The original architectural elements coexist with new additions, such as preserved historic archways merging with unique lighting features. The hotel strikes a balance between rough and refined, with a warm interior design concept featuring natural materials like wood, wool, and leather. Each of the 37 rooms, including 11 suites, offers a one-of-a-kind experience influenced by the historic building's architectural base. This includes centuries-old ceramic tiles, bespoke furniture, and locally crafted elements. The rooms showcase a harmonious juxtaposition of original features with contemporary design pieces, bringing a sense of warmth and connection to the island.
Nobis Hotel Palma offers a variety of dining and drinking options that blend the past and present. The Mirall Bar, located in a historic room with high ceilings, features a carefully crafted mirrored bar counter and serves expertly mixed cocktails. The signature restaurant NOI, helmed by Mallorcan chef Xema Álvarez, offers European-inspired sharing plates sourced from local produce.
The hotel also boasts an intimate rooftop bar with views of La Seu Cathedral. Additionally, guests can enjoy areas for relaxation, including the Sun Terrace with outdoor showers, a historic courtyard with a small dipping pool, and the underground Nobis Hotel Spa with heated indoor pools and saunas. The design throughout reflects a clean and elegant aesthetic using natural materials.
