We wanted to take on a new adventure. There aren’t a lot of galleries in Hong Kong focusing exclusively on photography and prints. The market for photography is rapidly growing so we decided to take the leap, move from Paris to Hong Kong and open a gallery.
This is our first gallery opening. I’m a photographer myself and my wife is an author. We are both very knowledgeable about photography and have collected for ourselves for years. We have so many beautiful and unique pieces of work and collections we want to showcase, and that’s what we’re here to do.
We know good quality work when we see it and we trust our instinct. We don’t pick anything for the gallery we wouldn’t proudly collect ourselves. The philosophy is to showcase art photography we truly love.
We spent about 6 months finding a good location for the gallery. We knew right away we wanted to be in Central and to be near the PMQ. The neighbourhood is very current and creative. It’s an exceptionally good area for a gallery; good location is key to running a successful gallery. We encourage everyone to stop by for a visit and to learn more about photography.
We like vintage photography and a lot of photojournalist works. We like all sorts of different photography really, except we’re maybe not so keen on abstract work. We do a lot of research for each artist we showcase, offer a wide selection of work and the idea is to provide a place where people can gather to share their passion for photography.
The future is bright and we are happy to discover new photographers and artists from Europe, U.S., and especially Asia. We are very excited about discovering new Asian talents.
